This lecture event will be translated LIVE into English by Hisham Abouzeid, Inshaa Allaah.

The belief in al-Qadr is obligatory as Allaah stated in several verses of the Glorious Qur'aan:
"Verily, We have created all things with Qadr." [Soorah Al-Qamar: 49]

Al-Qadr is sometimes mentioned with al-Qadaa’ in the same statement; if so then each has a distinct meaning. However, when they are mentioned separately, then either one comprises the other. So when they are stated together, then al-Qadr means that which Allaah has eternally pre-ordained (in due measure) pertaining to His creation. On the other hand, al-Qadaa' means that which Allaah has decreed for His creation from existence, annihilation, or change. In this sense, al-Qadr precedes al-Qadaa' when combined in the same sentence.”[‘Al-Qadaa wal Qadar in Brief’ from Abdurrahman.org]

As is the case with many aspects of ‘Aqeedah, there are sects that have deviated with respect to their belief in the Decree. From them are the Qadariyyah who go to extremes in affirming the actions of the servants, and they say that the servants are the ones who have originated the actions without them being pre-decreed upon them by Allaah. Then there is the Jabariyyah who go to extremes in affirming the Qadr and the Will (mashee'ah) and they deny the actions of the servants. And they say, 'The servant is compelled, he has no free will in his actions. And he is only moved like a feather is moved by the wind, or he is like the dead body in the hands of the washer who turns him, he has no free will.'

Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah have taken a middle course between these two extremes, as is their habit in all affairs of the Religion. So they have affirmed that the servant has an action, a will and a choice. However, he does not exit with that from the Intention and Will of Allaah.[‘Belief of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah Regarding al Qadr’ from salafitalk.com]

Shaykh Hasan al-‘Alaywah (hafidhahullaah) will enlighten us on the correct belief concerning al-Qadaa wal Qadr according to the Qur’aanand Sunnah with the understanding of our Salaf-us-Saalih and by the Permission of Allaah remove any confusion we might have concerning this matter.
We ask Allaah to grant us beneficial knowledge and make us from those who are balanced; those who neither fall into negligence nor exceed the limits.
